Role Summary
The role has complete responsibility for delivery of software applications to the service delivery function as per the agreed roadmap. Initially the focus will be on defining the structure and applying the methodology necessary to consistently and accurately deliver to schedule. Once the team structures, roles and processes are in place, the role will increasingly have an outward focus. The key tasks for the role are
Duties & Responsibilities
* Define the structure and processes for the software engineering group
* Supporting product roadmap planning by providing engineering perspective/input
* Developing and agreeing roadmap and release plans with Steering Group
* Provide technical leadership and authority
* Task assignment and resource planning
* Driving each development cycle through to release
* Ensuring each release meets roadmap milestones
* Apply software development procedures and standards
* Manage QA function to ensure product integrity & quality
* People management and coaching
* Development and QA work tracking
* Risk analysis and management
* Ensuring solutions designed conform to relevant technical specifications.
* Ensuring high quality documentation is produced and maintained throughout the development lifecycle.
* Identify training needs
Required Knowledge and Experience
* 5 year’s experience managing software developments teams
* a good understanding of IT architecture, IT systems and web technologies
* A relevant 3rd level qualification
* Experience in delivering solutions to large, complex ICT environments.
* Strong interpersonal and people management skills
* Clear and concise communicator to all levels of management and interested parties
* Strong leadership qualities and goal orientated
Desired Knowledge and Experience
* Successful history of delivering complex systems on tight deadlines
* Excellent problem solving and communication skills; quick learner
Security Clearance / CRB Clearance
