Product Development Manager – Software Applications
Our client, a leading developer of software application for the automotive industry, has asked Adecco Ireland to assist in their search for an experienced Product Development Manager.
The Position
The successful candidate will be tasked with providing technical and administrative leadership for all products within the European market, with responsibility for approximately 30 development personnel engaged in the design and development of computer based software systems for hand-held automotive test equipment, peripherals, and software test equipment.
The Candidate
The candidate should be self-motivated, have demonstrated leadership skills, and be able to work both on their own initiative and as part of a large and diverse global team.
This position requires a team player with excellent communication skills who clearly demonstrates a passion for leading and delivering quality products as well as the ability to manage disparate priorities and responsibilities simultaneously.
Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
*Provide technical and administrative leadership to produce high value, on-time, quality software and content releases on various platforms.
*Working with on-site engineering leadership, provide effective functional management of the group including performance evaluations and reviews, training and mentoring of personnel, task assignments, project status monitoring, and related administrative activities.
*Assume responsibility for the overall budget, facilities management, and finances for the groups in all European sites. Tasks to include interfacing with HR and local government agencies, customs and import/export issues, recruiting efforts and advertising, site planning and negotiations, facilities layout, IT and infrastructure, purchasing of development equipment, and collaboration with engineering site leadership teams
*Collaborate with global engineering staff in the development of products applicable to all markets. Insure that European development engineers are fully integrated into the global team.
*Lead the systems and software design, analysis, implementation, and test of real time embedded automotive diagnostic applications.
*Understand and implement methodologies for reverse engineering of vehicle communication protocols and potential areas for process improvements. Oversee the technical analysis and comparison of competitive scan tool and handheld diagnostic platform products with existing Snap-On products
*Assume responsibility for development and maintenance of project schedules, associated development documentation, and global releases of all client related products
*Understand and anticipate Automotive Technicians diagnostics needs to provide value to our products.
Qualifications required:
*Bachelors degree in a relevant field
*Exposure to software development teams plus people management experience
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Previous experience in a multi-disciplinary, global, cooperative engineering environment
*Excellent planning and organisational skills.
*Proven leadership ability in a large corporate setting
