Product Data Architect

Our client,  a large multinational, urgently requires a Product Data Architect.  Salary negotiable, excellent benefits.

The Data Architect will be part of a group that is responsible for working closely with product development teams to create, manage and govern database engineering- and architecture-related aspects of product functionality, performance, interoperability, and efficiency of delivery and support. 

Education/Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field – Master’s degree preferred.
* 7 years experience in database architecture and design, development and deployment (Oracle and/or DB2 preferred)
* 5 years working experience with Data Modeling tools such as Infosphere/Rational Data Architect or Power Designer is highly desired.
* Deep understanding of database theory and practice.
* Prior experience in developing, maintaining and merging large conceptual and logical data models

Responsibilities and Tasks of the Product Data Architect

The Product Data Architect will work individually, and within and across product development teams, to perform the following Architecture tasks:
* Design database-tier portions of payments-related software applications, and provide work estimates, design documents, and project guidance surrounding these designs
* Provide high-level analysis and design and code reviews, performance, scalability and benchmark test guidance, and subject matter expertise in Database-related technology and design.
* Design appropriate division of work performed between Database & Application code in products
* Incorporate cross-product data models into products for common model representation of data entities, relationships, attributes, typing, names, etc. related to Payments
* Apply deep understanding of DB engine algorithms to achieve extreme Database performance
* Facilitate application code portability
* Establish data migration process, code, and validation standards & coding
* Architect data integration process/software (transaction- and/or batch oriented)
* Architect data quality policy enforcement process/software
* Establish automated Database unit testing infrastructure & strategy
* Guide object/relational mapping or data access process/software design
* Develop database and BI solutions architecture for OLTP and data warehousing projects, performing activities such as designing and reviewing logical and physical data models, specifying scalability, availability, and data integration strategies (such as RAC, Replication, Stand-by, Streams), as well as capacity planning.
