Oracle DBA / Database Administrator

Oracle DBA with Unix

The Client
My client is an established leading provider in the global financial services sector. They currently have a permanent requirement for an experienced Database Administrator to begin as soon as possible.
Role and Responsibilities

• This role will involve the day to day maintenance and support of server hardware and server applications.
• Large part of role will be troubleshooting, upgrading and patching of hardware and software
• You will be responsible for review, implementation and testing of various infrastructure plans with the Server environment
• To provide and maintain documentation.

Skills Required

• At least 5 years experience working as an Oracle administrator with good AIX / HP-UX experience also
• Knowledge and experience of installing, upgrading, maintaining and troubleshooting Oracle versions 10g, 10gAS
• Senior level of relevant working experience within a similar role
• Excellent working knowledge of networking (including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP)
• Knowledge and experience of Virtual IBM p5 systems desirable
• SQL Server 2000 and 2005 knowledge and experience required
• Knowledge of backup software such as HP Dataprotector and Veritas Netbackup
• Knowledge of EMC SAN administration desirable
• Knowledge of Filenet Imaging system and optical storage desirable
• Strong Disaster Recovery experience
• Available to work on-call and overtime
• Demonstrated troubleshooting skills with excellent communication skills
• Strong documentation and process abilities
