Mechanical Design Engineer
We are currently seeking to recruit a Temporary Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Power Solutions department of a leading, international manufacturer at their Larne facility.
This position will require sufficient experience in order to take mechanical responsibility for most special projects with clear and specific objectives and some degree of problem solving. This involves the creation of new and/or adaptation to previous designs to meet customer specifications. Working in a team of engineers, the mechanical engineer is expected to complete most projects with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
* To provide valid designs of selected projects backed up by technical drawings, instructions and B.O.M.’s to enable the manufacture and assembly of specialist genset applications.
* Application of fluid flow dynamics for specialist ventilation, fuel and exhaust requirements for selected projects.
* Design of specialist acoustic installations for selected projects.
* Application of vibration and isolation techniques.
* Preparation and issue of detail drawings and material lists for manufacture of loose sound attenuators and exhaust systems.
* Specification and requisition of fabrication materials, components and instrumentation.
* The recording and control of documentation issued for manufacture.
* Provision of technical support to fabrication bay/production.
* Interpretation of building services/architects/civil engineers/consultants drawings.
 Qualifications and Experience Required:
Essential:
* A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline with 2 years related work experience
 OR A HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline (or equivalent) along with 3-5 years related work experience.
 Working experience of interpreting engineering drawings.
Experience of interpreting 2d and 3d Modelling packages.
 Desirable:
* Experience of working in a generating set or engine test environment.
* Knowledge of noise, vibration, fuel transfer, material science, structural or other specialist systems.
* Experience of working with Auto-Cad and Pro-E in a previous role.
* Exposure to 6Sigma through roles such as Yellow Belt, Green Belt or team member.
* A working knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Experience of SAP or similar production system
