Linux Systems Administrator (Limerick City)
Our client is an established multinational employer with a state of the art data centre based here in Limerick. They have retained the services of PBRecruitment Ltd to hire a Linux Systems Administrator. This is a permanent position with an established and secure multinational, based in their state of the art data centre located in Limerick City.
Role:
The successful job holder will join a team that is at the cutting edge of Unix/Linux technologies supporting a growing online business. You will be working with a wide range of technologies from blade servers to large SMP servers, and a wide range of operating systems including Solaris, SuSE Linux and AIX, multiple clustering technologies and SAN and NAS storage.
In this role you will be supporting a Linux /Solaris/AIX environment (running on primarily Intel hardware technologies. with some Sun Solaris and IBM p-series servers). Your primary responsibilities include supporting servers from an operating system perspective, and managing various business unit software environments. In this role you will be administering SuSE 10/SUSE 11 and/or Red Hat 4/Red Hat 5 running in a 24×7 environment; including kickstart server builds, nfs, shell scripting, performance tuning, patch management and firmware updates.
NB – please note that this position is a shift based position. This shift is a permanent basis, and will be based on a four day week, as follows: 4 x 10 hours Thur – Sun, from 5 am to 3pm, so the ability to work shift on a long term basis is an essential requirement for this role!
Required Skills and Experience:
You have solid experience of supporting the Linux operating system, preferably SuSE Linux. You have some experience of other Unix flavours such as Solaris or AIX, and in addition you should have understanding of NAS and SAN technologies, preferable experience with NetApp, Hitachi Data Systems and EMC storage technologies. You should have a working knowledge of network (LAN/WAN) technologies and UNIX system management tools.
