FINEOS is a market leading provider of core software solutions for Insurance and Government Social Insurance.

FINEOS have been operating in South Africa for nearly 3 years now and have been working at a major Government agency. Together, we have just completed a large Claims System Implementation over the past two and half years. The focus now is on identifying and implementing additional business benefits, whilst supporting the roll out across the entire organisation in South Africa. Due to the relocation of some of the Team overseas, there is an exciting opportunity to join our Team located in Pretoria.

Role

The Lead Technical Consultant role is a senior development role to ensure that solutions are designed and constructed in a way that is technically sound and conforms to industry best practice. This role requires people with an aptitude for considering the bigger picture, the knowledge to consider all options and the innovation to select the best solution. A strong determination to take the solution to completion while maintaining a focus on delivering quality and value to the customer is vital.

Specific tasks to include:
• Conducting technical requirements analyses and design, and carrying through to the implementation of major custom components elements of the FINEOS solution
• Select the appropriate technologies (languages, middleware, etc.) for the solution/release, if relevant
• Development of the solution components, in conjunction with other Technical Consultants
• Ensure all aspects of good design and construction are delivered, including:
 Performance, scalability and security
 Modularity, interoperability and upgradability
• Work with peers within the client organization to ensure a successful delivery
• Liaise with Business Consultants for requirements handover
• Provide Production Support Services for the installed System (incident analysis, solution identification, fix) under time constraints
• Provide detailed planning and tracking information to project management
• Work closely with Solution Architects for direction and compliance

Requirements

The suitable candidate will possess most of the following.
• Minimum five years good experience in a technically challenging environment
• Experience of providing post Production Support Services
• Strong analysis and design & solutioning skills
• Excellent planning and tracking skills from project/release inception to transition
• Strong negotiation and scope management skills
• Proven complex technical problem solving skills
• Proven project administration skills
• Expert knowledge of specific technologies:
 Java, including J2EE technologies such as JSP, JMS, JNDI
 Application servers: Websphere, Weblogic, Tomcat
 Databases: DB2, Oracle, SQL Server
 Development Tools: Apache Ant, Maven, Junit, Eclipse, Subversion
• Experience using middleware and integration technologies such as SOAP (over HTTP/JMS), WebsphereMQ, SOA, AquaLogic (Oracle Service Bus)
• Willingness to take ownership of significant elements of an overall solution/release
• Experience of working remotely in a vendor environment on a client site
• IT background in financial services or Government would be an advantage
• IT background in personal injury Claims would be an advantage
• Strong communication skills and proven ability to deliver without direct supervision
• This role may involve some travel.
