Infrastructure Specialist
IT Infrastructure Specialist – UNIX, Database & Storage -DUBLIN-CONTRACT
Responsibilities include:
1. Perform the role of subject matter expert on the client’s IT infrastructure (UNIX, Database & Storage) to offshore support teams, projects and the client.
2. Facilitate infrastructure knowledge sharing to project teams ensuring project compliance with design and operational readiness requirements.
3. Support project teams throughout the project lifecycle and perform project roles as assigned.
4. Contribute to evaluation of new initiatives from the client; requirements shaping, impact analysis; cost and resource budget estimation.
5. Approve project infrastructure build, operational readiness and production acceptance.
6. Define knowledge transfer requirements and partner with offshore teams to ensure deployment planning and timely up-skilling to drive smooth transition to production.
7. Participate in the investigation and resolution of complex incidents or problems.
8. Perform the role of vendor technical representative for client issues.
9. Maintain UNIX and database patch policies, driving and measuring patch process deployment with the offshore teams.
Skills & Experience Required:
1. AIX administration & hardware in a business critical environment (inc. pSeries, VIO, HMC).
2. Storage technologies (SAN) and reporting.
3. Data backup policy and process management, backup tools including EMC Networker.
4. Internet protocols LDAP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, SSH and TCP/IP networking.
5. Veritas volume and cluster management.
6. UNIX shell scripting.
7. ITIL change, incident and problem management awareness.
The individual:

o Solid/extensive technical expertise in at least one of the UNIX, database (Oracle) and Storage (SAN) competencies with a desire to develop/advance skills in the other competencies.
o Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

o Participate in a 24*7 on-call rota.
