Responsibilities of the VLSI Design Engineer
Design and implementation of hardware based video codecs for digital TV and Set-Top-Box applications to project schedule and budget
Take technical responsibility for all aspects of the completion of projects, creating innovative and robust solutions to complex technical solutions
Work closely with the firmware team during design, verification and validation stage of SoC developments
Support the SoC team during integration, verification, timing closure, DfT stages
Assist with the development of detailed project plans, task breakdown, resource requirements and definition of milestones and delivery dates
Participate in design reviews, code walkthroughs and other quality improvement tasks
Mentor, train and support other members of the team as required
Provide technical support to end customers, internal product support engineers including remotely and on-site as required
Write user guides, manuals and any other documentation
Travel to other company sites and customer locations
Any other duties as may be reasonably required by management
Essential Experience Required:
A degree in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science
A knowledge and understanding of the stages of front end SoC and/or FPGA design and verification from requirements definition through to release and support
Skillful in using RTL language for design and verification and using C/C++ for modelling and testing
A knowledge and understanding of microprocessor based SoC architectures and design flows
A knowledge of SoC verification techniques
Desirable Experience Required:
Experience of SoC or FPGA design, verification and validation
Experience of digital video codec sub-systems and algorithms
Experience of digital TV, Set Top Box or other digital video applications
Experience of test application development
Experience of customer support both remotely and on-site
Working Environment;
You will be working with a very experienced and stable/secure team – many of your colleagues will have 10+ yrs proven commercial experience
