DBA Manager

Role: SQL Server DBA

The DBA is the heart of this team, maintaining and building SQL server with multiple nodes. You will be coordinating database environments for production, UAT, QA, and development. This client develops technology and applications for the Funds industry. The applications platform includes Microsoft SQL Server databases that are used by applications written in Python, C#, .Net, and Java, and integrates with databases from 3rd-party applications. Responsibilities:

• Build and configure production SQL server 2008 / 2012 clusters with multiple nodes.
• AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
• Silent install and automation deployment.
• Provide support for production database environments. Collaborate with Systems Administration teams to diagnose and troubleshoot production issues. Work with Monitoring teams to develop tools that proactively identify database issues and collect appropriate trending data for performance analysis.
• Work with development team on performance and tuning of the queries.
• Develop a process to support frequent, rapid, streamlined, and reliable releases into several QA and UAT environments. Collaborate with Development and Systems Administration teams to plan and communicate rollouts of new software versions. Build automated tools to implement schema changes or transform data within development, QA, UAT, Staging and production environments.
• Database upgrade procedures and tools provided by external vendors.
• Collaborate with System Administrators and Physical DBAs to develop operational approaches for backing-up, restoring, upgrading, sizing (disk and shared memory, for example), and tuning runtime requirements for all database environments.

Requirements:

• 10+ years’ experience working with relational database systems including Microsoft SQL Server. Recent experience with Microsoft SQL Server essential.
• Previous experience supporting production databases in a Windows Server enterprise environment.
• Experience working for firms in the financial services industry is desired.
• Data modelling is a plus.
• Scripting language PowerShell, Perl.
• DW and OLAP including working knowledge of SSAS is a plus.
• Knowledge of MDX query language is a plus
• Knowledge of Apache, MYSQL, PHP and Perl is a plus
• Hortonworks Hadoop is a plus.
