THE ROLE[/b]
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining new and existing in-house projects. The role requires .NET, VB.NET & SQL Server development and SQL Server administration aspects.
Working on .NET-based in-house software development projects
Developing and maintaining SQL Server-based reports using Stored Procedures, DTS/SSIS and a VB.NET client application
Creating ad hoc business reports
DBA authority over all SQL Servers in the enterprise
[b]REQUIREMENTS[/b]
[i]Background[/i]
Third level qualification in Technology/Engineering or relevant cross-training
Experience developing applications in a MS SQL Server (2000, 2005) /.NET environment
Previous experience in financial company an advantage
[i]Development[/i]
Strong SQL Server 2000/2005 database design and development experience including the usage of DTS/SSIS packages for automated data processing and stored procedures to incorporate business logic. SQL Server 2008 is a distinct advantage.
Must have expert knowledge of TSQL and MSSQL
Ability to write and understand complex SQL queries and stored procedures
SQL Server database migration and upgrade experience
Strong VB.NET knowledge and experience
Strong .NET knowledge and experience
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work flexible hours

Backup and maintenance planning
Database optimisation including Indexing and Query Tuning
Automating database administration, job scheduling
Performance tuning and optimisation
Experience with disaster recovery methods and capacity planning
Troubleshoot performance and functionality issues arising.
Familiarity with industry standard SQL management tools
