Customer Solutions Development Manager

FINEOS currently has an opening for a Customer Solutions Development Manager. This is a key senior role within the FINEOS Professional Services (PS) team, based in Dublin, and charged with managing and directing the Software Development Services function. As the manager of this group you will manage all aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for multiple FINEOS international implementation projects using a multi-disciplined Development Services organisation with a presence in Dublin, Gdansk and on site at the customer location. This is a challenging and demanding role accountable for the successful delivery & implementation of quality software to FINEOS projects across Europe, Canada and the USA. .

You will be expected to become a key manager within the FINEOS PS organisation, servicing multiple projects and delivering a quality outcome to all customers, using a robust formalised SDLC process. The successful candidate will be expected to bring their experience to bear in the shape of evolution and enhancement of the current processes to ensure the most successful outcome for both FINEOS and our customers.
Responsibilities

The management, direction and leadership of a software development function, adhering to a formalised process, physically dispersed across multiple locations including our Dublin Head Office, our Gdansk Software Services Centre and our customer sites.
The effective delivery of quality software outcomes within a profitable and well managed commercial organisation where people utilisation and outcomes are maximised.
To create, rollout and adhere to a formalised SDLC process that is both transparent and effective and to introduce continuous improvement to that process on an on-going basis.
To galvanise a team around a core vision and set of operating principles and to mentor the talent pool to ensure that we have the right skill sets in the appropriate roles within the development organisation.
To manage all aspects of people allocation, deployment and business planning to ensure that our capacity is calibrated with likely/known demand, so that we can meet our obligations and so that a transparent view is available of our known capacity/shortfalls/surpluses.
To maintain and grow a strong operating relationship with the project management arm of the FINEOS Professional Services organisation.
Regular reporting and communications of key metrics to all key FINEOS stakeholders
Evaluate ways to improve the skill set of the GSDS function through the use of a new tools or techniques, or additional training on fundamental skills.
Set individual and team goals and monitor progress through regular performance feedback sessions with team members

Requirements:
Prior experience of managing a significant software development team, preferably using physically dispersed teams in a financial services setting, insurance preferred.
Proven capability to manage and lead a team of highly qualified and motivated software development staff.
Previous exposure to the demands of multiple parallel projects in commercial customer environments.
Expert knowledge of specific technologies including those below and in developing solutions in complex technical environments:
Java, JSP, Servlets. J2EE
Webservers, Browsers, HTML, JavaScript, XML
SQL, RDBMS – Oracle, SQL Server, DB2
Experience using middleware and integration technologies such as MQ Series, Tuxedo, XML
Strong decision-maker and influencer with proven leadership skills and an ability to be a credible leader to staff and FINEOS customers.
Innovative, good general technical knowledge, and focussed on delivering the best solution to the customer
Flexibility and willingness to travel when on-site work is required (typically for short periods)
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written from both a FINEOS and customer facing perspective.
Excellent business planning skills in terms of;
Managing supply and forecast demand
Load factors to incorporate standard overheads such as defect fixing, contingency, etc
Resource ratios in terms of managers to team leads to team members
Succession planning
A proven track record of successful project deliverables in a technically and commercially, complex and challenging environment
