Fixed Term Whole-time post (5 Year Contract)
The Audio Visual Media Services Unit provides essential support to the University’s teaching, learning, research, and public relations activities through a team of technical and support staff located on the spectacular Central Campus.
This is done through the provision and maintenance of a large stork of projection and video conferencing facilities (at over 300 individual locations), and the delivery of on-site sound and video recording, production and delivery services.
The Unit has recently expanded its capacity in order to enhance the quality and currency of its services to the University. The new AVMS strategic plan places strong emphasis on exploiting the latest ICT developments. The Chief Technical Officer will play a central role in effectively deploying the rich resources available to implement this strategy.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a highly skilled team in providing a key and developing University service.
The post holder will be expected to lead and deliver excellent customer service and be responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of extensive AVM services throughout the University.
The post holder will manage an existing team of Technical Officers and have a key role to play in determining fair and equitable workload distribution and developing and implementing agreed service standards for the Unit. The post holder will liaise between technical staff, administrative support and the Head of Department to enhance communication and ensure high quality AVM services delivery.
The ideal candidate will be educated to Masters Degree level or have been employed as a Technical Officer in a University in the State and must have significant experience and technical competency in audio visual and media technologies.
