We are currently seeking to recruit a Business Objects Reports Developer/System Administrator to join a leading public sector body on a long term contract basis in Belfast.
The Mobile Work Management (MWM) department is a real-time, business-critical application managing the work of 500 crews across the Customer Services Directorate. At the core of MWM is Ellipse, a database that maintains all asset-related work carried out by those crews. Duties include;
* To develop high quality, accurate reports for Business Users with a clear presentation layer to enable simple business decision metric tracking,
* To respond to (and anticipate) the evolution of Operations Functions and work with their business units to model their data needs.
* To prepare data for upload onto the system.
* To audit data quality and work with Operations Functions to improve quality.
* To design tools/algorithms/reports to monitor data quality.
* To design tools/algorithms to automate improvements in data quality.
* Perform basic system security administration functions including creating customer profiles, monitors and manages system resources, maintaining system documentation and logs,user authentication etc.
* Assists in troubleshooting and diagnosing production problems
* Design and implementation of tools for data preparation (e.g. intermediate data stores such as Excel or Access and use of macros or SQL [structured query language] to prepare data).
* Design and implementation of data quality monitoring processes and tools.
* Design and implementation of data quality improvement processes and tools.
* Proactive detection and follow-up of data quality issues.
* Provide data quality reports to managers.
* To manage the end-to end delivery of MWM management information to senior managers and advise them on information available. To evaluate information requests, specify, design, implement, test and deliver reports in a timely manner
* To advise on and ensure consistent interpretation of system data (including ownership of the system data dictionary and system reports portfolio)
* To develop reporting capabilities for operational KPI’s
* To maintain the corporate library of MWM reports and advise users on their use (to rationalise, document and communicate these reports)
Applicants will possess a 3rd level qualification in engineering, scientific or IT related subject and 2 years of experience across a range of the following:
* Developing, testing and maintaining reports using Business Objects Universe
* Advanced Excel (e.g. creating dashboard using visual basic, pivot tables etc.)
* Access
* SQL (structured query language)
* Relational databases (Oracle)
Or 5 years of experience across a range of the following
And Technical knowledge in the following:
* Ellipse
* ClickScheduling
* Affinity Fieldreach
* InfoView
* Access
* Experience in the design of business procedures aligned to the use of IT
* Experience in system issue resolution in regards to key IT systems achieving a high percentage availability
* Strong logical, analytical skills
* Experienced user of the standard Office tools (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
