BIOS Engineer

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a multi national in Limerick. The position is for a Senior BIOS Engineer . This is a fantastic opportunity to join a progressive IT company that is thriving in the current market.
The role will involce developing platforms in BIOS, reference code and related documentation for silicon products such as next generation chipsets and processors. You will also be responsible for authoring BIOS specifications, creating chipset reference code and developing / supporting platform BIOS for CPUs and chipsets. Work closely with silicon design / platform teams and be responsible for all software and BIOS related issues during the planning, development, and validation stages of the program.
You must possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and/or Engineering in a related field with more than six years of BIOS and/or Software Development Experience.
Additional qualifications include:
– Strong C* coding skills
– Excellent system-level debugging skills
– Knowledge of PC BIOS architecture
– Sound knowledge of OS architectures for Windows*, Linux* and/or Real Time Operating Systems
– Clear understanding of architecture and bus protocols such as PCIe, QPI, FSB, LPC, SPI, USB
– Working knowledge in the software engineering development process, project life cycle
– Good project management skills
– Good communication and documentation skills
– Ability to work well in a diverse team environment and with others in cross-site organizations
– Ability to multitask
Experience with the following would be an added distinct advantage:
– Strong Assembly language skills
– OS boot loader experience
– Device driver design and development for PCI/PCIe devices and/or microcontrollers
– OS Kernel development and debugging experience
– Experience with UEFI* and/or Tiano* cores and/or some experience with legacy BIOS cores from AMI* or Phoenix*
– Experience or knowledge in BIOS fields: Plug and Play, OptionROMs, memory algorithms, Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI)
– Familiarity with ITP* and logic analyzers
– Familiarity with Platform Schematics
