Automation Engineer with 5+yrs Automation experience required for permanent role in Cork city.
The Role:
We are looking for an experienced automation engineer to assist in the development of our portfolio of software products and projects. The candidate must have a deep knowledge of industrial automation and be passionate about protecting the customer experience.
Responsibilities:
•Performing user acceptance testing with specific focus in terms of exact real world usage of the application
•Creating test environments that simulate real world / product environment
•Evaluate requirements from an automation expert perspective
•Analysis and feedback of UI screen prototypes and requirements documents to assist development and requirements in the design of specific features to ensure implementation matches customer and real world experiences
•Internal training
•Defining test strategy and test execution planning for test phase
•Write project tests ensuring sufficient clarity and detail
•Devise, conduct and analyse the results of software tests
•Raise bug reports for all software issues raised during the test phase
•Monitor and review problem reports with development, requirements, test
•Ensure timely completion of all testing tasks in line with project timelines
•Interfacing with software development team in preparing and maintaining the quality of the software development effort during system test and release test phases
•Reporting on test effort within agreed formats and timescales
Skills & Experience:
•A masters degree or equivalent in electrical engineering or computer science discipline is required.
•The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years Industrial Automation experience in wide range of industries and have worked on a range of complex automation projects.
•Experience in the following is essential: IEC 61131 PLC Programming language Standards (LD, ST, IL, FBD, SFC) HMI / Visualisation Systems MES and SCADA Systems Fieldbus Systems Ethernet-based communication systems (EtherCAT, PROFINET, SafetyNET..etc) Robotics IEC 61508 Functional Safety
•Strong problem solving and good analytical skills (defect analysis and reporting) Strong attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Good time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines
•Experience in the following is desirable: Good knowledge of software development lifecycle and defect resolution processes Java and HTML programming User Interface design Usability Engineering
•A working knowledge of German would be a distinct advantage
