Java Support Engineer

Our thriving international software company client (working closely with Allen Recruitment) is looking for a Application Support Analystwith very good customer and technical support experience to support their rapidly expanding blue chip customer base.
Key areas of Responsibility
First, second and third line support for production issues from our customer base
Investigation and diagnosis of problems with our core applications
Liaise with customers to inform of progress, request information, manage expectations and close out issues.
Take ownership for customer support issues and push them to resolution.
Liaison with our customers’ technical staff to ensure incidents are resolved, even if the cause is not directly related to our products
Log, track and update incidents in our issue tracking system
Escalate risks in our ability to provide quality to management
Ensure that procedures are followed so that customer implementations are handed over to Application Support from Professional Services
Contribution of knowledge base/FAQ to assist Customer Support in simplifying the support process
Maintain and manage customer test environments for problem replication
Essential:
Proven experience in working as a customer support representative
Ability to juggle conflicting priorities and demands on time.
Java/J2EE
Websphere and any 1 of Tomcat, JBOSS, Weblogic
Oracle 9i and 10g
SQL/PL SQL
JDBC
XML
Strong Windows Server 2003 skills
Any flavour of Unix/Linux with AIX an advantage.
