Job description:

An exciting opportunity exists for the role of an IT Application Support Analyst in one of Irelands most successful life assurance companies to support the delivery of a broad range of business critical systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Ensure live I.T. systems are managed effectively and service availability exceeds target SLAs

·         Identify, investigate and resolve a range of technical issues affecting business systems and their infrastructure ensuring excellent commutation to stakeholders at all times

·         Responsibility for systems support and technical issue resolution to ensure high availability of business critical systems

·         Escalate high impacting incidents where appropriate and follow up to ensure resolution

·         Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including business areas, IT project and development teams, risk and compliance and relevant 3rd party suppliers

·         Support project delivery through planning, assessment and transition to live service

·         Drive continuous improvements by implementing perfective measures that provide business value and enhance functional performance

·         Manage issues and risks effectively ensuring they are identified and actioned in line with controls

·         Demonstrate flexibility to cope with changing demands based on business priority

·         Support of system deployments from business and functional requirements gathering through to delivery to live service, liaising with 3rd party vendors where relevant

·         Work with IT Risk and Compliance to ensure risk and compliance practices are implemented and adhered to

·         Customer service orientation, with an attitude of personal "ownership" for all work

 

Key Requirements:

·         IT 3rd Level technical qualification (e.g. computer science degree or similar)

·         At least 3-5 years IT experience and at least 2 years in a similar role

·         An experienced IT Support Analyst who has worked in a technical devilry role with a demonstrable ability to deal with a wide range of business areas and 3rd party vendors

·         Experience of Database management and SQL programming skills including proficiency in data query structures and exposure to SQL database maintenance practices

·         Understanding of ITIL IT Incident and Change processes

·         Have strong understanding of IT support services focused on service improvement to identify potential incidents before they occur

·         Experience of working in an enterprise computing environment

·         Strong software troubleshooting and problem solving skills

·         Proven ability to prioritise, multi-task and manage own workload according to changing priorities

·         Experience with the following technologies – SQL Server Administration, Java, MySQL

·         Excellent technical knowledge with ability to articulate complex issues in business terms

·         Strong negotiation and influencing skills

·         Self-starter and willing to take initiative in problem identification and solutions provision using a systematic and organised approach to their work

·         Strong business acumen and with excellent influencing and communication skills

·         Displays a customer focus and "can do" attitude

·         Ability to deliver in challenging environment

 

Desirable Requirements:

·         ITIL Foundation V3 certification

·         Understanding of IT Security practices

·         Experience with the following would be an advantage – Workflow systems, IBM Websphere, SOA principles
