Database Administrator (Oracle & SQL Server)     

Report to: VP of Engineering

Overview of Role:

We are looking for an experienced Oracle/SQL Server Database Administrator; with excellent communications skills. You will be working in an Oracle 11g environment that will be moving to 12c in the near future and a SQL 2012 environment that will be moving to SQL 2014. This role will setup and maintain multi node, high availability, database environments for both Oracle and SQL Server.

Main Responsibilities:

•        Installation, configuration, upgrade and patching of Oracle and SQL Server products.

•        Setting up multi node high availability database environments for both Oracle and SQL Server. Needs to have prior experience and be completely comfortable in making best practice recommendations in this area.

•        Database and system backup and recovery.

•        Implementation of database and server security.

•        Implementation and maintenance of database and server tuning.

•        Implementation of database and server monitoring.

•        Server, database and application-level troubleshooting.

•        Consultation with technical, development and professional services teams.

•        Database design and implementation.

•        Setup and maintenance of system documentation.

•        Capacity planning.

•        Work directly with Developers to review database designs, index and queries

•        Provide recommendations in relation to improvements on data base platforms

•        Maintain required patch updates on data base systems

•        Carry out software upgrades; outlining all technical steps and testing procedures

Experience:

•        Oracle Relational Database 11g and 12c Administration experience

•        Minimum 5 years Oracle RAC

•        Minimum 5 years Oracle RMAN

•        Minimum 5 years Oracle database administration

•        Minimum 5 years UNIX experience

•        MS SQL Server 2008/2012 5 years’ experience

•        Strong knowledge of the inner workings of relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server)

•        Hands on experience with PL/SQL performance tuning.

•        Practical data modelling experience.

•        Database partitioning experience

•        Some exposure to ETL

•        Good knowledge of Powershell

•        SQL Server Integration Services 2008/2012

•        SQL Server Reporting Services 2008/2012

Education:

•        IT related qualification would be advantageous

•        Oracle or SQL Server database certification
