JAVA DEVELOPER – CONTRACT

Primary Responsibilities
• Design and development using Java development.
• Ensure components are coded in accordance to best practices, standards, and guidelines
• Participate in all aspects of project delivery, including reviewing functional specifications, technical architectures and external interfaces.
• Work very closely with Business Partners, Analysts and QA associates using an Agile Development methodology. As such, you must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable following the best practices of Agile development and Extreme Programming.
Education and Experience
• 3 years of software development experience, including implementation of enterprise solutions in a J2EE environment. Broad technical experience within several areas: The current environment includes Java, J2EE, Websphere, IBM Portal Server, AIX, .Net, C#, and ASP.NET
• B.S. in a computer-related field is preferred
Skills and Knowledge
• Strong OOP/D skills and experience in implementing Java-based web solutions
• Strength in Internet technologies is a must; experience with Websphere Portal is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills; comfort following the best practices of Agile development and Extreme Programming (pair programming, test-driven development)
• Demonstrated ability to balance priorities and simultaneous projects
• Strong judgment, issues management and problem analysis techniques
• Strong organization and coordination skills
• Convey information on critical issues in a timely fashion
• Participate in the on-call rota and resolve production issues as required
• Ability to work independently as well as in a cross matrixed environment
