Role: Technical Writer XML Oxygen – DITA advantageous
Job Description:- Performs writing tasks on documentation projects such as user manuals, installation manuals, help documents and tutorials. Requires effective troubleshooting, planning, scheduling, research, and writing skills.
Required Skills
Experience with XML (The main tool that they use as the XML editor is Oxygen – experience with Oxygen would be a major plus. (other similar tools people may have used include X-Metal, Abortext Epic and XML-Mind)
Experience with a text based XML editor and the DITA-OT is a plus
Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures relating to operating systems, networking, and troubleshooting
Familiarity with virtual computing environments is a plus
Ability to work independently and across different time zones with remote teams
Must be able to deduce product functionality independently
Strong application knowledge and user awareness
Able to work directly with software development team
Broad understanding of documentation process
Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the software field
If you had DITA experience this would be highly advantageous.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Researches outlines and writes documentation that is technically accurate and conforms to the company's defined writing style. Works directly with software development team to identify and document product functionality. Makes necessary revisions in existing documentation, writes new documentation, and takes screen shots. Utilizes experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Manages multiple high priority tasks
