IT Java Application Support

Technical responsibility for supporting key applications that support critical business processes This role involves supporting our Internet, Webservices and a number of multi-platform applications. As it is a support role we require the applicant to be flexible, quick-thinking and enjoy working under pressure. This is a 6 month contract role.

Your responsibilities:

Driving the investigation and resolution of issues effectively
Responding to Application support calls within strict target SLAs to ensure business continuity.
Applying configuration changes to key applications (within the Change Management Process)
Carrying out deployments of Core Business Applications to Production
Provide support for the monitoring of key business applications
Contributing and participating in putting new processes and support/monitoring tools in place.
Application testing
Loadtesting
Delivery of project based work to agreed target dates
Liaise and manage third party suppliers
Provide on-call support

Your tasks will include:

Websphere Application Server
Tomcat
Java & J2EE
Webservices
XML
Linux SuSe
SQL
Weblogic
JMeter
Knowledge of scripting
RPG or other Mainframe experience

Your profile:

Hold a relevant IT Qualification and experience in a similar role
At least 3-5 years Application Support
Working with Java based applications
Demonstrated strong Business and Systems Analysis skills
Proven ability to work on own initiative.
Demonstrated ability to work to strict deadlines and under pressure
Previous support of multi-platform systems
Ability to juggle conflicting priorities and demands
Very strong Technical skills across a number of platforms
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
Ability to balance a number of conflicting priorities and make decisions
Must be able to maintain focus whilst under pressure
Clear and concise communicator
Good customer service ethic – ability to liaise with business management and end customers
Delivery and quality focused
Ability to act as a part of a team
Willingness to work overtime and out-of-hours/weekend
Willing and able to adapt to new technologies
