Oracle DBA

We are seeking an Oracle DBA to join our Professional Services team based in Dublin, Ireland. It will be a customer-focused role, reporting to the Professional Services Team Lead. Candidates should have worked in either a consultancy or customer facing role. The primary activity of the DBA is to install, configure, administer, tune and load data to our internal and cloud databases. The DBA will be responsible for supporting these databases and also some customer databases support. There will also be some support and administration of our cloud instances (linux based running Oracle and Tomcat).
The role is both challenging and demanding and requires candidates that can collaborate and integrate seamlessly with colleagues and other lines of businesses. The work involves liaising with development, senior consultants, utilising team work, knowledge databases and working remotely on customer systems, with a core focus of meeting and surpassing customer satisfaction.
This role involves interaction with many of our customers, therefore excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills are a must. Salary and conditions will be competitive and appropriate to the role.
Education
A BSc in Computer Science or GIS related field with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
Tasks
* Monitor and ensure 24/7 uptime of production databases
* Install, configure, Tune and Support Oracle 9i/10g/11g databases
* Define, implement and take ownership of our database backup, failover and recovery strategy for our cloud solution
* Manage database security and implement regular security audits for our cloud solution
* Database design
* Data loading, tuning and configuration
* Support remote customer databases
* Maybe required to be on-call for out-of-office hours ’emergency’ technical support
* Some travel may be involved
* Create and manage remote installs of our cloud solution
Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years Oracle DBA (10g/11g) experience including production experience
* Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN)
* Oracle Tuning and Oracle Enterprise Manager
* Familiarity with UNIX/LINUX based environments
* PL/SQL
* Strong team player with good communications skills and ability to interact with colleagues at all levels.
* Analysing and Problem Solving: gather information and probe for facts. Weigh up options, produce practical and workable solutions.
* Commitment to achieve excellent standards of work.
Desirable but not essential:
* Oracle certification
* Experience with Oracle in the cloud, preferably EC2
* Oracle Spatial
* Application Server Experience (WebLogic/Tomcat)
