Network Engineer

Our client is a dynamic telecoms firm with enviable growth and due to this continued growth are now hiring two network engineers. These are permanent jobs. These roles may be based either in Limerick or in Dublin. Role:

– network operations including supervision and analysis of network alarms, troubleshooting and root cause analysis of network faults
– Customer management including notification, collaborative incident handling, reporting and general assistance
– Circuit build including design, configuration and interconnect mapping for all access and core nodes.
– Design, build and verification of new network infrastructure and platforms
– Network configuration changes, platform migrations, software upgrades and expansion activities
– Network performance review and improvement
– Vendor /partner interaction and escalation handling
– Participation in Company emergency callout rota

Key Required Competencies
– In depth knowledge of Ethernet
– Expertise in CISCO, either CCNA or CCNP level
– Track record of successful technical projects allied with good project leading and management skills.
– Good general understanding of transmission network principles, including circuit design and proven experience of contributing to improving resilient platform operation
– Telecommunications operator and / or vendor experience in a transmission environment
– Demonstrate application of deep analytical and problem-solving skills within the telecommunications transmission field
– Excellent time management and organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
– Good documentation and general communication ability with strong interpersonal skills
– High levels of flexibility, willingness to learn and develop and awareness of future trends in the telecommunications industry

Additional Competencies which would be highly advantageous (in order of priority)
– Familiarity with one of the following network platforms – Tellabs 6300 SDH platform, Ciena’s form World Wide Packets
– Telecom vendor experience in testing and validation of carrier class platforms
– Cisco or other IP and / or Ethernet certification
– Unix / Linux administration and scripting experience
