Position: Role: Senior IT Administrator / Solutions Engineer
Location: Galway, Ireland
Position requires a background in Network Administration and IT infrastructure but also must have experience in software solution setup with a track record of integrating in-house and 3rd party software solutions successfully. The ideal candidate will be a self starter and highly motivated, able to work on his/her own and within a team environment across QA and Development Engineering, also able to work across organizational boundaries. Team leadership is not a requirement. The ideal candidate needs to be comfortable working as part of a fast moving software development lab, capable of demonstrating an enthusiastic approach to learning new technologies and skills with a willing attitude to execute different responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
● Prime for common Internal lab infrastructure
● System State, Network//Tape/Disk backup procedures, Network Installations, Configuration and management of servers Firewall maintenance, network security and configuration.
● Manage and implement proactive monitoring of key lab infrastructure
● Design, manage and support the growing network infrastructure
● Acquire detailed solution level working knowledge across all components and features of UC implementations. This includes the ability to configure and administer all components to implementation level, and to understand operation to protocol level.
● Collaborate with internal and external groups including Design,
● Troubleshoot solution and system level issues. This includes the ability to debug solution level issues through trace analysis.
● Assessment of solution implementations. This includes the assessment of appropriate test and tools requirements and capacity requirements.
● Document solution implementations
● Prepare and deliver presentations, tech transfers and webinars to internal and external audiences.
● You will be required to act as technical prime for certain projects you are involved with
Required Skills
● IP, TCP/IP, routing and switching, network address translation, domain controls – Set up and administration.
● Excellent knowledge with network sniffers/analysers
● Strong initiative, self-learning, and ability to work alone or in teams
● Strong communication and presentation skills
● Strong technical skills
● Strong problem solving and analytical skills
● Strong knowledge of products in a Linux environment.
● Knowledge of UC products, enterprise telecommunications systems and IP Telephony protocols including at least some of the following SIP, H.323, RTP, XMPP, SIP/Simple.
● Excellent analytical skills, ability to understand complex problems and to generate appropriate solutions
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
● Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in cross-functional project teams
● Ability to cope with changing priorities and multiple assignments
● Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with peers.
The following skills would be an advantage
● Previous experience using Agile development methodologies (SCRUM etc).
● Experience with Real-Time Media Processing, Audio/Video Codec’s (G.711, G.729, etc).
● Experience with Virtualisation Technologies (Citrix/Xen, VMWare etc).
● Experience with Avaya Communication Manager
● Experience with Avaya Session Manager
● Experience using Empirix products for performance and functional testing (Hammer G5 etc.)
Education and Experience
BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent and 6+ years experience in software development.
