Our client is a leading provider of high-quality, silicon-proven IP solutions for system-on-chip (SoC) designs. An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a Java Tools Developer to join their team in Livingston.

As a Java Tools Developer, you will be responsible for creating innovative, next generation software tools for both internal use and for major blue chip device manufacturers. These tools will be used by both software engineers and virtual prototyping engineers worldwide.

You will oversee the entire development cycle from requirements definition through to architecture design, development, integration and testing. Liaising with customers, you will develop an understanding of their requirements and work alongside R&D personnel and the Customer Support Team to ensure that briefs are fully adhered to.

Additionally, you will ensure that software tools are delivered on time, on budget and are fully functional and easy to use.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

– Strong practical Java, C++ and object orientated design experience
– Experience and familiarity with Windows and Linux development environments
– Excellent software design and programming skills
– Proven user interface design skills with a focus on usability
– At least a 2:1 degree in computer science or electronics with computing

As a Java Tools Developer, you must possess a creative and innovative mindset and superb communication and problem solving skills. Meticulous and driven, you must be bursting with unique ideas and eager to place the user experience at the heart of what you do. A team player mentality is also key.

Knowledge of at least one scripting language would be beneficial to your application, as would knowledge of SystemC transaction level modelling. Hardware knowledge or embedded system experience would be advantageous. Experience of product verification, build systems, compilers, simulators, Eclipse and multi-threading would be equally favourable.
