Job Summary
Responsibility for the Operational and Strategic Management of the IT Infrastructure environment.
Ensure that the needs of the Business are satisfied through the availability of suitable technology and services.
The role has a strong focus on end user computing (desktop, telephony and collaboration) and will suit a candidate who has strong experience, interest and clear vision in this area.
Key Tasks
* Responsible for the Day-to-Day Management of IT Infrastructure teams including N&T (Avaya, Cisco), WAN/LAN, Servers (Microsoft, Linux), AS/400, Desktops, Deployment and Middleware (Websphere, Java, Tomcat Apache)
* Provide technical direction and leadership and understand the dependencies between and within key IT systems,
* Ensure that Infrastructure strategy is aligned with an overall business strategy and advice on the suitability of established and emerging technologies.
* Liaise with key business customers to understand business requirements and issues and ensure that these are effectively translated into solution design
* Assume programme management role on projects to address key business problems, system scalability and strategic infrastructure improvement. Ensure that these are delivered in accordance with in house methodology and in adherence with architectural standards
* Assess and appraise performance of direct reports and identify and address development needs; coach and mentor staff to ensure professional development.
* Management of daily operations including the monitoring of infrastructure team performance against key KPIs and SLAs.
* Coordinate and support the development, implementation and maintenance of information security policies, standards, and guidelines
* Respond to information security incidents, determining corrective action to be taken, and designing and implementing preventative measures.
* Negotiate key service level agreements with third party suppliers and external service providers.
* Manage operational and capital IT Infrastructure budget.
* Work with ISO team to develop and test full disaster recovery plans for critical systems and applications
Personal Spec
Essential:
* Third level qualification in IT or an IT-related discipline
* A minimum of 5 years management experience in a IT Infrastructure-related area
* An excellent communicator who has the ability to communicate Infrastructure concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
* Proven track record in driving sustainable improvements or transformation
* Structured and logical thinker & organiser
* Self-motivating with strong drive
* A clear understanding of IT and concepts
* Experience of building, implementing and supporting complex Infrastructure enterprises
* Experience of working within a multi-national IT environment
Desirable:
* Degree in Computer Science or IT-related discipline
* IT infrastructure or operations management
* Project management methodology
* Experience of implementing information security policies, standards, and guidelines
* Has achieved ITIL qualifications
* Experience of implementing complex IT/Business projects
