A global leader in the paperless validation industry, my client is at the forefront of software development in the Limerick region. Due to on-going success in their market, my client is on the lookout for an SQL DBA to join their talented team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing operational database services to the company. With a current team size of 30+ (devs, testers, scrum masters 7 support), my client is looking to double in size this year. Based on the outskirts of Limerick City, they are very accessible.

Responsibilities of the SQL DBA role:
• Managing SQL Server instances in a virtualised environment
• Automation of operational tasks
• Managing customer databases in a Production environment
• Managing production databases
• Managing High Availability of SQL Server databases
• Managing database backups and disaster recovery
• Resolving database related incidents
• Developing operational policies, procedures, controls and standards
• Performance Tuning and Optimisation (PTO)
• Helping Developers to improve database performance

Required Skills and Experience for the SQL DBA role:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other relevant discipline
• 5+ years of experience with Database Administration for Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
• Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server
• Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems
• Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics
• Good knowledge of T-SQL and scripting (including PowerShell)
• Good communication and documentation skills are essential

Desired Skills and Experience for the SQL DBA role:
• Certification is a plus; MCTS, MCITP, MVP
• Knowledge of Amazon Web Services is a plus
• Knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a plus
• Windows OS configuration
• Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)
• Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC)
