Software Engineer in Test (SDET)

A global client based in Dublin is looking for a Software Engineer in Test to join their growing Engineering team who can apply the latest research and tooling in the area of testing SQL parsers, compilers, optimisers and engines.
The right candidate will join one of the scrum teams and be tasked with designing and implementing automated tests and test infrastructure to ensure we maintain our strong focus on quality.

This is a 6 – 12 month initial contract based on site in Dublin

Core Responsibilities:
● Applying the latest methods to test and validate the correct operation of the database
● Writing and reviewing test plans
● Develop tooling to be used for generation of automated tests
● Port SQL test suites to work against NuoDB
● Write white-box tests for new query engine features

Job qualifications:
● Understanding of SQL semantics and Database constructs
● Solid programming ability in Python and/or Java. Knowledge of PERL or C++ a bonus.
● 3+ years commercial experience within Software engineering / Test Engineering
● Willingness to learn how query engines work (Relational, NoSQL or NewSQL)
● Ability to pragmatically solve problems
● Strong Communication skills & ability to work independently in a distributed team
● Bachelor / Master in Computer Science or equivalent preferred
