Senior Systems Engineer – AWS
Our client is a booming SAAS company using GPS technology and offering exciting products to businesses. Their solutions enable businesses to meet the challenges associated with improving the productivity of mobile workforces from real-time and historical data. We have an urgent requirement for a Senior Systems Engineer to join the expanding team.
As the Senior Systems Engineer you will have the following responsibilities:
• In-depth knowledge and experience in designing and implementing Cloud based infrastructure in AWS
• Proven experience in the automated deployment of infrastructure and services using Cloud formation in AWS
• A good understanding of the principles/methodologies and tools used in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery using Opsworks/Chef
• Experience setting up and maintaining AWS Cloudwatch
• Designing and maintaining IAM security policies within AWS
• In-depth knowledge of designing and deploying highly available solutions in AWS using VPC’s and Route53
• Excellent working knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems
• Experience automating operational tasks in at least one of the following: PowerShell, BASH, Python, Ruby
• Experience of configuration management system based on CHEF, writing cookbooks and recipes
• Monitoring performance, troubleshoot systems problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, patching, collaborating with System Engineers & Architects on optimisation
• Provide on call support for the Development Operations team in an outage situation
• Work as part of the team to ensure projects and goals are delivered to aggressive timelines
• Ongoing maintenance of documentation relating to new and current systems throughout the organisation
Requirements
• 2+ years of proven experience working with Amazon Web Service technologies
• 3+ years of proven experience as Systems Engineer in a Windows/Linux environment
• Excellent knowledge and troubleshooting ability on all aspects of the Networking Stack
• Experience working in an operating system agnostic infrastructure
• Ability to approach problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm, and innovation
• Excellent communications skills to clearly articulate complex technical issues to all levels of the organization (both technical and non-technical)
