Java Application Architect
My client is an institution of the European Union, they are currently on the lookout for a Java Application Architect, based in Brussels.

Responsibilities of the Java Application Architect Role:
• Design and development of web-based applications.
• Design, implementation and maintenance of software components for web-based applications.
• Migration and updates of web applications.
• Design and development of architecture components and building blocks.
• Analysis and development of the integration of different information systems.
• Review of the architecture of existing systems.
• Architecture and design of information systems.
• Data analysis and data modelling.
• Participate to requirements analysis, prototyping, definition and integration of technological components.
• Production of software architecture documents.
• Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users.
• Assistance during relevant parts of testing, analysis, technical documentation, deployment, evaluation and reporting.

Required Knowledge and Skills for the Java Application Architect Role:
• Good knowledge of web applications design using Java technologies.
• Good knowledge of modelling tools.
• Good knowledge of Relational DBMS, especially Oracle.
• Knowledge of interoperability technology (e.g. web services, message-oriented middleware, service bus).
• Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, good communication skills.
• Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment.

Specific Expertise for the Java Application Architect Role:
• Java technology and J2EE architectures.
• Java tools and frameworks: Spring, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Hibernate, IntelliJ or Eclipse.
• Front-end frameworks: Angular 4, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery.
• Web services (WSDL, SOAP, REST, etc.).
• Analysis of requirements, drafting of analysis deliverables, UML modelling, and prototyping.
• A very good command of the English language is mandatory.

Desirable Expertise for the Java Application Architect Role:
• Continuous integration: Jenkins, Maven, Bamboo or similar.
• JMS and queues.
