Data Scientist - Cork

My client is an innovative energy company, optimising the use of customers' energy resources, using advanced automation technology developed in-house. They are a technology leader in the evolving energy sector. They are seeking to hire a data scientist to join their expanding team in Cork. This is an amazing opportunity to join an exciting and expanding company who are to expand into US markets in 2019. You will play a key role on the R&D team gaining essential insights into process improvement and how to increase commercial success.

The Role

You will be responsible for programming, testing, implementation, documentation, maintenance and support of systems application software in adherence with the company's standards, processes and best practices.

Responsibilities include the following:

* Liaise with clients, industry experts and other stakeholders in order to collect and document technical requirements.
* Development of predictive models for forecasting, characterization and optimization for a wide variety of energy applications.
* Performing analysis and data mining on complex datasets for trend and pattern analysis, and business opportunity development.
* System and data validation and the development of recommendations for performance improvement.
* Working with software team in the development of high quality, secure, scalable software solutions in accordance with technical requirements specifications and design artifacts on time and within budget.
* Work with team to meet scheduled due dates, while identifying emerging issues and recommending solutions.
* Documentation of models and software programs as per Development Best Practices.
* Contribute ideas to help ensure that required standards and processes are in place and actively look for opportunities to enhance and innovate solutions and improve process efficiency.

Required Experience

A minimum of 2 years' professional or university research experience is required.

* Experience in modelling systems
* Ideally, a postgraduate degree in computer science, maths, statistics, physics, engineering or another science related discipline.
* Good working knowledge of statistics
* Experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks
* Knowledge of Classification algorithms such as Decision Trees or Bayesian models
* Experience creating tools for data analysis
* Ability to innovate and develop new approaches to complex design problems
* Experience working in a dynamic and collaborative work environment as a team player
* Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
* Excellent verbal and written communication

* Ability to work with cross functional teams
* Experience/Familiarity with any of these technologies: Matlab/Octave, Tensorflow, PytTorch, python scikit-learn, python pandas, Accord.Net, ML.Net or similar
* Any of the following programming languages: Python, C#, C++, Java, R
* Useful but not necessary: SQL Server Management studio, T-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, GIT, TFS, Windows Server.
