Responsibilities of the Java Developer:
• Participate in reviews of Design, Functional Specifications and Code developed by other team members
• Implement complex modules with minimal supervision
• Take a component design and progress it through development, testing, documentation and delivery
• Create and review Test Plans and Test Tools
• Participate in continuous process improvements
• Install and deliver developed applications to customer sites
Requirements for the Java Developer role:
• Third level degree in Computer Science / IT
• 4+ years of commercial experience (using Java)
Plus, experience in some of the below:
• Good Java and OO skills
• Standard OO design patterns
• ORM frameworks such as Hibernate
• Maven and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins
• RDBMS experience ideally with schema design
• PL/SQL knowledge having used MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL
• Spring Core, MVC or other Spring modules
• Web standard technologies HTML/CSS5/JavaScript
• Good JavaScript skills
• Virtualisation, Cloud-based Applications, Amazon AWS, VMware, Docker
• Agile development methods including SCRUMs and SPRINTs
• Full software development life-cycle
• Developing on a Linux/Unix platform
