Capita IT Services have an opportunity for a Dell EMC Storage Engineer & Dell EMC Data Domain Backup Solution ( 9 x 5 plus on call rota) to be based in Belfast, Northern Ireland for a 12-month contract . The role is within the Storage and Server Services team, part of IT and Networks.Running ICT Services for a wide variety of clients, both internal and external assisting with the day to day operations of a busy enterprise storage team that manages >3PB of storage across 50+ arrays.
For this opportunity at a major Aerospace manufacturer, you will be part of a select team ensuring that the current IT systems are running to ensure that production operates with no interruptions. The role is responsible for providing key technical support across a the clients Dell EMC SAN Storage, EMC Data Domain Backup software and a range of Windows and Linux Server estates. As part of team ensure all processing services responsibilities are met for supported SAN Storage environments on which most of the key operational applications are hosted.This involves, but is not limited to, day to day administration, routine patching, implementation of and adherence to security policy, system availability and performance and capacity analysis. All systems have manufacturers support in place so access to manufacturers 3rd line support is available.
This role also involves keeping the systems operational and liaising with 3rd parties on support issues where appropriate. In addition, it will be necessary to develop and manage support documentation and procedures.Routine tasks need to be completed with limited supervision.
Day to day responsibilities include:

Performance and capacity management of SAN infrastructure to include: -
*
General data storage administration.
*
Routine monitoring
*
Maintenance of historic performance and capacity data
*
Ensure adherence to SLA performance, capacity and availability metrics
*
Proactive and timely escalation of potential issues and proposed actions
*
Co-ordinate and implement remedial actions as required
*
Production of reports as required
*
Automation of routine tasks where applicable
*
Planning and implementing Firmware and Patching programs
*
Security hardening and patching to ensure adherence to agreed security policy
*
Managing and resolving 3rd line support issues within tight SLA's
*
Liaising and working with 3rd party suppliers on support and development activities as required
*
Provide advice and guidance within the area as required both internally and to the customer
*
Produce build, configuration and support documentation to Company standards
Essential Skills:
* Dell EMC Storage Hardware
* Dell EMC Backup System - Data Domain
* Hpe Windows Server
Desirable Skills
* Technical understanding of Unix, Linux & Windows Operating Systems
* SAN Fabric knowledge (Brocade and Cisco)
* A thorough understanding of wider SAN architecture and infrastructures
* Experience with EMC backup technologies
* Adhere to use of Service Management tools
* ITIL knowledge
* HP 9000 Server knowledge
