Role Responsibilities:
• Design, Installation, Configuration and Maintenance of hardware, operating systems, and network infrastructure devices.
• Upgrading systems with new Operating System releases and patches
• Management of the network of servers world-wide in data centers and on cloud providers
• Setup of performance and availability processes and metrics for key processes and systems using proprietary and in-house network management solutions
• Monitoring the performance and availability of key processes and systems
• Assisting with hardware, telecom and software vendor evaluation and recommendation
• Creation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PTP VPNs
• Maintenance of hardware inventory and asset configuration
• Liaising with customer and partner System Administrators and IT workgroups as required
• Development and implementation of best practices for hardware, firewall, telecom and network management.
• Interaction with customers, vendors and staff at a technical level, as required
• Working with internal workgroups and customers to promote I.T. Security Best Practices
• Installation and maintenance of various cyber security applications (IDS, WIPS, DLP, 2-factor authentication)
• Configuration and maintenance of private virtual server hardware and software (i.e. OpenStack)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
• A degree in information technology, computer science, computer engineering or a related field
• Proven experience as a System Administrator in I.T, Telecoms, Networks industry. Industry certification in System Administration would be considered a plus
• Hands-on skills with management of server hardware and cloud environments (both owned and on cloud providers such as Amazon AWS)
• Advanced computer networks knowledge and experience. Cisco CCNA certification or similar would be considered a plus.
• Strong knowledge and experience with Operating Systems (RedHat Linux, Ubuntu)
• Knowledge of system security (e.g. Intrusion detection systems, data backup and recovery). Digital forensics a plus
• Comfortable using DevOps tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Docker, OpenStack) a plus
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, bash or Groovy
• Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong time management skills including prioritizing and planning
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work on own initiative
