Senior System Engineer

itContracting are now taking immediate applications for a Senior System Engineer. This is a permanent position with our international client based in Dublin 14.

Primary Objective:

The role of Senior Systems Engineer is to lead the IT operations (infrastructure and business) across our client's European business, providing technical expertise in the delivery of all aspects of the of their IT service offerings.

This includes contributing to and maintaining an ongoing plan for IT infrastructure systems, network

communications and maintenance.

You are required to work without supervision, but with guidance on non-standard features and will be usually engaged on more responsible assignments requiring substantial professional experience.

The Senior System Engineer (Europe) reports directly to the Group IT Manager, located out of Ireland.

The Senior System Engineer (Europe) is responsible for the local IT Operations team, consisting of System Administrators and Service Desk Operators.

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities

Operations Management

* Build relationships with users and key business stakeholders to better understand business activity and ongoing requirements for service delivery
* Lead the delivery, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all IT service offerings
* Ensure ongoing performance of network and services through changes, upgrades and improvements
* Lead IT projects
* Analyse existing solutions and make recommendations for improvements and change
* Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrades, project improvements
* Monitor IT Security and report breaches within risk management system
* Position Description - Senior System Engineer (EU)
* Ensure the IT Backup Policy is implemented across all services and reviewed to ensure compliance.
* Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation

Strategy and Planning

* Work with the Group IT Manager to develop, implement, and maintain policies, and procedures, for IT operations
* Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the IT Management team
* Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of IT service offerings
* Work with broader IT Management Team (located in Internationally) to adhere to change management, disaster recovery and business continuity frameworks

Project and Service Delivery

* Effectively assign and prioritise resources to project activities and service delivery, without disrupting business-as-usual operations
* Identify and articulate risks associated with IT operations projects and service delivery
* Adheres to standards and procedures (e.g. software control, change management, documentation)
* Schedules work and confers with key stakeholders if problems are identified that impact deadlines and other stakeholder expectations
* Assigns tasks and monitors the execution of action plans
* Delivers solutions that meet quality requirements and are within approved budget and timeframes
* Assists internal and external customers to use our client's technology

Leadership

* Manage and lead the Europe IT team

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

* 6 + Years' Helpdesk / Problem solving experience
* 6 + Years' experience with Windows Domains / Active Directory
* 6 + Years' experience administrating LAN and WAN networks
* Microsoft Certified Professional or other IT Tertiary Qualification
* Bachelor Degree within IT Discipline desirable
* Proven knowledge of current technologies and their application in enterprise implementations
* Proven ability to manage teams across geographically disperse locations
* Experienced in managing various stakeholders at different levels.
* Understanding of healthcare industry and relevant regulatory bodies.

Travel Requirements

* Travel to Europe business sites as required.
