Data Engineer - AWS

If you like high throughput data environments and have an interest in handling relational data bases across SQL server - then read on!

Your new employer is a global leader in their space and is building a best in class decision and people profiling engine which handles thousands of data points simultaneously. 

Duties:

• Developing, testing and tuning data pipelines and other batch processes

• Preparing executable scripts for ad-hoc reporting and data validation

• Assisting developers in trouble-shooting long running queries and deadlocks

• Participating in release management and deployment of database schema and code

• Participating in Scrum ceremonies within an Agile Team

• Contributing to the team knowledge base (Confluence)

• Mentoring of Junior Developers as and when needed

• Ensuring high test coverage of developed code

Requirements: 

• 3 years of experience with relational databases (preferably SQL Server)

• Developing SQL queries, indexes and stats

• Profiling and Performance Monitoring

• Sound knowledge of database architecture

•  CDC and CT technologies

• Peer to Peer replication

Technical stack

• A high level programming language (C#, Java, Python, Ruby)

• Scripting languages, e.g. Bash, Powershell

• Continuous deployment tools e.g. TeamCity, Chef, Jenkins, Puppet

Desirable skills:

• 1 year of experience with AWS (EC2, DynamoDB, Lambda)

• Experience with a high level programming language (C#, Java, Python, Ruby)

• Knowledge of Serverless patterns and practices

• Knowledge of automation patterns

• Familiarity with batch and stream processing technologies (e.g. Hadoop/Hive/Spark/Kafka)
