Details of the position:

Provide technical leadership and support for control systems to engineering, maintenance and process engineers across Manufacturing and Process Development as required for business impacting issues.

Escalates business impacting issues where relevant, and supports efforts to maintain business continuity, e.g. execution of disaster recovery procedures

Perform weekly tasks to both networked and stand-alone control systems, for example weekly backup checks, end-user account management, managing Master Backups and periodic reviews, & support of disaster recovery testing.

Manage and record activities through use of ITIL based tools (Service NOW) and site Process Support Models , and in line with principles of data integrity (ALCOA+)

Proactively identify opportunities, anticipates problems and implement solutions within IT and in collaboration with Operations, Process Engineers, R&D and the Maintenance team.

Records and investigates issues, performs root cause analysis, escalates to management and other teams as required. Co-ordinates the response with external vendors for issue resolution, upgrades etc.

Implement change control tasks as required and manage vendors in implementing changes as outlined in site procedures.

Prepare specifications, protocols, procedures and other documentation as required. Keep documentation current (drawings, specifications, validation documentation etc).

Provides handover to the Process Automation administrator, Maintenance and Process Engineers from project mode to operational support where applicable. Ensures that training materials are updated when required.

Keeps management informed of obsolescence / support risks and makes recommendations for upgrades through IT Risk Management tools and Equipment Reliability Programmes.


Qualifications:

Degree in Automation Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience.

Excellent control systems knowledge. Experience of Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC and iFIX / FTView SCADA essential. Exposure to Bar Coding, RF Systems, Vision Systems, Werum PAS-X and OSI PI Historian is an advantage.

Excellent knowledge of databases and report packages an advantage

2+ years' experience in a role that meets the above requirements.

IT service desk skills and/or certification in ITIL Foundation is an advantage
