Applications are invited for this opportunity of Senior Automation Engineer reporting to the Associate Direction, IT based in Athlone.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures all work is executed in a safe, effective and compliant manner, adhering to site safety, GMP and IT procedures.

Provide technical leadership and support on control systems and applications to engineering, maintenance and process engineers across Manufacturing and R&D as required. Supports the Process Automation Admin role as required for business impacting issues.

Project Manage delivery of IT led projects as per the IT PM process with support from site functions as required, from requirements gathering, management of tendering process, selection of OEM and project execution (design, build, test) through to project close out.

Proactively identify opportunities, anticipates problems and implement solutions as per the site Process Support Model.

Manages and implements changes to control systems and applications as required by the business, ensuring adherence to site and industry standards and guidelines.

Provides leadership in developing further IT standards as required.

Listens to and proactively engages with users to identify process improvements, and to ensure that control systems operate to maximum effect.

Proactively works with the business in developing key dashboards, automated and ad-hoc reports and availability to data to support visibility of processes and investigations as required. Awareness of and adherence to data integrity guidelines essential

Assist in the design and development of control systems for the introduction of new technology and preparation for future requirements.

Assist in new product introductions if required.

Prepare specifications, protocols, procedures and other documentation as required. Keep documentation current (drawings, specifications, validation documentation etc) as per site change management processes.

Provides handover to the Process Automation administrator, Maintenance and Process Engineers from project mode to operational support. Ensures that training materials are updated when required.

Keeps the business informed on industry trends and innovations. Keeps management informed of obsolescence / support risks and makes recommendations for upgrades.

Work with wider IT team to share information and create the required interfaces between control systems, historians, MES / EBR systems.

REQUIREMENTS



Degree in Automation Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience.

Excellent control systems knowledge. Experience of Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC and iFIX / FTView SCADA essential. Exposure to Bar Coding, RF Systems, Vision Systems, Werum PAS-X and OSI PI Historian is an advantage.

Excellent knowledge of databases and report packages an advantage

3 – 5 years experience in a role that meets the above requirements.

Strong Project Management skills and / or certification.

Experience in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industries is desirable
