RESPONSIBILITIES
• Write high quality code, following our guidelines and best practices.
• Taking part in system design sessions, working closely with our product and design teams based in New York & Prague
• Taking part in code reviews
• Working with our QA team to assist in defining and executing unit tests and system test and UAT/release support as needed
• To help mentor/assist product, developer and QA colleagues in best practices
• Think outside the box to devise ways to improve our systems
• Work closely across the technology teams, taking requirements and design documentation as input, clarifying requirements as necessary to critique solutions and being proactive in how you approach your tasks
• Participating in the Agile development methodology including stand-up meetings as needed
• Help define metrics that are useful and practical and look at how we can continuously improve what we do
• Assist with the resolution of day to day issues and queries relating to technology
REQUIREMENTS
• Strong hands-on Python development skills
• Knowledge of Python technologies such as Celery, Boto for AWS services, Flask framework an advantage
• Experience in Image processing/ video manipulation an advantage
• Experience with agile software development methodologies.
• Strong people skills - Highly motivated self-starter
• Comfortable engaging with senior management and being able to explain ideas
• Ability to come up to speed quickly on our technology stack
• In additional to strong python skills, experience with some/all of our technology stack – PHP, HTML/CSS/JS, Postgres, Go
• Experience with some/all of our tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Google Apps, Invision)
• Experience working in an agile development environment with a geographically dispersed development team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree or greater in an appropriate technical discipline
• Must be able to work on own initiative
• Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
• Must have excellent attention to detail, be persistent to get things done right, be highly organised and flexible and work well in collaboration with a dynamic team
