In this role you will install, maintain, and troubleshoot web products; build automated environments; provide technical infrastructure, systems and server support; and resolve incidents reported by customers.
Candidates applying for this role should have:
- At least 5 years of experience in Linux systems administration
- Some experience with Windows Server admin
- Experience with Skype Server admin
- Strong understanding and knowledge of internet and web-based technologies
- Linux scripting experience, including Bash and Perl
- Some experience with SQL database admin/management
- An understanding of networking protocols, including IPv4, TCP, UDP, routing, and IP subnet management.
- Experience with TCP/IP tracing and trouble-shooting tools e.g. SSL capture, tcpdump or WireShark
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical topics to staff at all levels
- A strong customer focus
- Great time-management and organisation skills
- Fluent written and spoken English
It would be a distinct advantage for applicants to also have experience in some or all of the following:
- Spanish, German or French
- Support for cloud computing environments such as OpenStack, Amazon AWS or Google Cloud
- Infrastructure automation and auto-scaling e.g. with Chef, Elastic Beanstalk or Cloud Formation
- Internet and Linux protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, WebSockets, SMTP, DNS, NTP, NFS
- Samba or other Linux/Windows interoperability tools
- Debugging network packet and application flows
- AWS technologies such as EC2, RDS, VPC, CloudFormation and S3/CloudFront
- Streaming media protocols e.g. RTMP, RTSP and HLS
- Development languages such as Java, Ruby, C++ or C#
- Source code control systems such as SVN or Git
