Our client is a successful and growing Irish-owned software company that develops web-based software for leading companies worldwide. Due to recent growth, they are now seeking a DBA with SQL Server experience for their Limerick team. In this role you will be providing operational database services to the company, ensuring the high availability of their SQL Server databases. This will include managing customer databases, production databases and instances of SQL Server in a virtual environment. You will also carry out performance tuning and optimisation of databases, manage backups and disaster recovery, automate tasks, resolve database incidents and develop policies, procedures, controls and standards.
Applicants for this role should have:
- A degree in computing (or similar relevant technical subject)
- At least 5 years of experience working as a SQL Server DBA
- Strong database trouble-shooting skills
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
- Experience with backups and recovery models
- Experience with automation scripting
- Knowledge of T-SQL and scripting (including Powershell)
- Experience with Windows server, including Active Directory and disk configurations in virtual environments
- An understanding of indexes, index management and statistics
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Fluent written and spoken English
It would be a considerable advantage for applicants to have the following:
- Experience with SSRS reporting
- An understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Knowledge of Microsoft IIS
- Microsoft certification
