Responsibilities
• Maintenance of current Centos virtual machine estate and deployment of new servers
• Configuration and management of systems using CHEF
• Work directly with the Architecture and application teams to install and configure, support and maintain the middleware platform
• Performance and application monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, collaborating with other System Engineers on optimisation
• Ongoing maintenance of documentation relating to new and current systems throughout the organisation
• Assume the role of Middleware subject matter expert for Development Operations
• Provide on call support for the Development Operations team in an outage situation
• Work as part of the team to ensure projects and goals are delivered to aggressive timelines
Experience
• 3+ years of proven experience as Systems Engineer in a Linux environment
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux System Administration in a complex data centre and hybrid cloud environment
Experience
• BSc computer science/engineering or higher
• Proven experience installing, configuring and maintaining applications such as Redis, RabbitMQ, Memcache and Apache NIFI would be a distinct advantage
• Scripting experience using Unix shell, Python or Powershell
• Excellent communications skills to clearly articulate complex technical issues to all levels of the organization (both technical and non-technical)
• Current Linux certification
