Based in state-of-the-art offices in Central London, you will find that our client is located in an iconic building within easy reach of the Bakerloo line and surrounded by creative organisations and global corporations.
Within the offices themselves, you’ll discover a games room and a fully stocked chocolate fridge so as soon as you feel that concentration drop you can step away, stock up on sugar and ping pong wins and display your pool supremacy to all who will take you on.
As a MySQL Database Engineer, you’ll be supporting a large number of databases across our client’s multiple brands. Working with both large and small databases, you will be part of a small, tight knit team which has the potential to shape our client’s database strategy.
The environment you’ll join is Agile, dynamic and fast-moving. The company is rapidly growing both in terms of the number of customers who come on-board every month and the features of the platform they have created.

As part of your role, you will be part of an on-call, out of hours support rota.
The role will also involve:
- Replication, set-up and maintenance
- Advanced monitoring and capacity planning for the entire database estate
- Database tuning at multiple levels, from query to hardware and OS level
- Automation activities for all the elements of your role
Interested? If so, you will need:
- Over four years’ experience in supporting MySQL databases version 5.x and above
- A working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, especially how they interact with MySQL databases
- Scripting abilities in Shell and Python
- Experience of MySQL clustering and replication technologies
- Experience of MySQL monitoring tools such as MEM, PMM or Nagios
With excellent verbal and written communication skills, our client’s MySQL Database Engineer will be an adept problem solver with strong team working skills and the desire to push boundaries and go above and beyond to fulfil a brief.
