Role Summary
This is an excellent Dublin City Centre based IT job opportunity for an experienced IT Applications manager with a well-recognised financial services institution. Strong experience managing a team covering core systems development and support and QA is key to the role. You will have the opportunity to influence processes and approaches within the applications landscape, and bring them to a more mature state.
The Information Systems Manager is responsible for the management of the Service Delivery, Data Quality and Quality Assurance teams.
This is a key role within their organisation and will have full end to end management responsibility for the operation and maintenance of production IT systems in the organisation. There will be particular focus on monthly delivery of system reporting outputs to internal clients, the testing strategy and approach, as well as release management plans for core business applications. The role will also be responsible for the development of strategy and approaches for the maintenance of an ongoing high level of data quality throughout the company’s applications.
Responsibilities

• Own the Release Plan, managing the introduction of fixes, functionality changes and improvements across the company’s applications estate, working closely with the PMO and Commercial functions to prioritise service introductions and ensuring the management, planning, scheduling and control of a release is completed to the highest standard with minimum impact to our daily business and month-end processes. Create continuous improvement ways of working to evolve the release management capability
• In conjunction with the Head of IT, own the Quality Assurance strategy for the company’s core applications, designing and introducing improvements as necessary.
• Enhance the company’s data quality strategy, subsequently design and execute data quality processes & plans in line with the Company’s Data Quality Policy.
• Manage the Service Delivery, Quality Assurance and Data Quality teams to ensure the effective running of all core business applications and the policies and procedures supporting them; particularly in the area of our month-end processes.
• Work with our key third party suppliers to build trusted relationships, identify resource requirements and manage the implementation process to support project delivery and service delivery
• Be accountable for overall application incidents, resolution and reporting for all projects and environments.
• Manage the transition of projects and new services into the BAU model and post go live support.
• Manage team to schedule and prioritise Requests for Change by working collaboratively with both internal and external teams, service providers and vendors to achieve required results.
• Manage relationships with other company functions, including finance and actuarial departments, to support effective delivery of applications to meet current and future business needs.
• Effectively communicate to senior stakeholders the handling of incidents and the recovery from incidents impacting the business and ensure remediation is carried out.

Competencies

• Excellent people management skills- demonstrable capability in developing people
• Experience in recruiting, building and managing teams
• Previous experience within Release Management and Project Management with IT exposure
• Experience in managing outsourced software vendors in both on- and near-shore models
• Experience in insurance systems and familiarity with waterfall software development lifecycle processes
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience in communicating to various levels of stakeholders inside and outside the business
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive, pragmatic, engaging and decisive
• Very strong attention to detail and ability to drive attention to detail throughout the team
• Any other ad hoc duties when required

Desirable but not essential for the role:
• Knowledge and experience of working in the insurance sector, preferably in a cross-border business environment
• Experience in working in a multilingual, multicultural environment
• Experience in implementing standards-based IT management frameworks
