A global life insurance company based in Dublin city centre is currently seeking a solid Java developer to join their Scrum team. This will be a challenging new role, primarily working within their Scrum teams, building upon the company’s web-based systems.

The Role Involves

• Be an active participating member of a Scrum team, interacting with developers, analysts and the PO.
• Incorporating end-to-end development from the database to the GUI, thus a wide range of expertise will be needed.
• Driving continuous improvement in our development processes.

The Candidate

Required

• Degree or higher in a Computer Science or an IT related discipline.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Java Software Engineer.
• Excellent working knowledge of the Java environment (Java EE, JPA).
• Web technologies such as JQuery, JavaScript, CSS, JSF, AJAX.
• Object-Oriented Analysis and Design skills.
• Working knowledge of SQL and JPQL.
• Knowledge of build automation systems (Ant, Gradle).
• Experience implementing RESTful web services.
• Experience using Glassfish application server.
• Experience using tools such as Eclipse IDE, Jira, Bitbucket, Crucible, MySQL Workbench.
• Experience using distributed version control systems such as Git.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Experience working in an agile development team and has a good understanding of Scrum.
• Excellent communicator.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Be innovative and enjoy working with emerging technologies.

Desirable

• Financial Industry experience.
• Continuous Integration Server (e.g. Jenkins).
• Automated testing, ATDD or BDD and associated tools (e.g. Selenium, Cucumber, JBehave, Mockito, WireMock).
