Working with a major public sector client, this demanding role will require a mix of Solution Architecture, Technical Architecture and a hands on approach to development.
Our client is a leader across the public sector in provision of IT services and as such you will get to work on exciting high profile projects with an excellent technical stack of Java, Spring, AngularJS, HBase and Hadoop.
In order to succeed in this role Drive and Ambition are an absolute must and the successful candidate must be an excellent communicator. As a senior architect you will also get to play a major part in shaping the future of the ever expanding Java team (120+) and ensuring Version 1 is aligned with the latest industry standards.
Objectives:
Candidates need 8+ years Java experience with a minimum of 3 years team lead experience. Emphasis is on drive, innovation, communication and organizational skills.
As a senior architect, you will be responsible for devising the solutions for projects, estimating and subsequently leading a team in the implementation. This will require establishing strong working relationships with various stakeholders to ensure a successful delivery.
One of the responsibilities of the senior architect is to use thought leadership to identify and drive improvements and innovations, both in terms of technology and processes.
Version 1 has a strong capabilities program which focuses on the careers of our team. As a senior Java architect, you will be expected to play a leading role in the capability – mentoring of junior developers and driving the direction of the entire team.
Project methodologies include both Waterfall and Agile. You must therefore be comfortable with both.
Skills Required:
• Expert in Java 7 / 8 development
• Spring Framework
• RESTful, JMS and SOAP-based services
• Testing frameworks and TDD (like JUnit or Mockito)
• Version Control Systems (CVS, Subversion, GIT)
• Application Servers like Tomcat or WebLogic
• Databases: Relational (e.g. Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server) and NoSQL (e.g. HBase, Hazelcast)
• Front-End development using HTML5, JavaScript and JavaScript Frameworks (e.g. AngularJS), CSS/SASS/LESS.
• Intimate knowledge of design patterns and best practices
• Strong commitment to code quality
• Strong technical and business writing skills.
• Comfortable working with senior stakeholders
• Experience gathering requirements and translating into technical requirements
