About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an architect to join Ammeon’s UK delivery organisation. It will appeal to someone who enjoys working closely with customers and  who is passionate about working on IT transformation projects. The role will suit architects with experience of working with Cloud and Big Data technologies and who are keen to develop their skills further in these areas.

To succeed in this role, architects will be expected to take on a broad and varied range of responsibilities. Ammeon’s solution architects play a vital role in taking customers on their transformation journey. Their work encompasses understanding business needs, identifying and designing solutions to meet those needs and taking them onward into successful implementation and deployment.

Ammeon is looking for an architect who is motivated by finding innovative solutions to customer’s IT transformation needs and supporting them to  realise them.

Job Requirements

• Working closely with customers to understand their business needs and translate those needs into use cases and requirements.
• Identifying solutions which satisfy customer requirements and helping to create a vision and a roadmap for those solutions with the customer.
• Defining solution architectures and working with the sales and delivery teams to incorporate them into viable customer project proposals.
• Working with delivery teams to set project goals, define requirements and scope and establish projects to deliver the solutions.
• Defining and documenting solutions using standard architectural modelling techniques.
• Assessing technologies and third party products, recommending technology choices and prototyping solutions.
• Presenting architecture and technical solutions within the company and to customers
• Providing technical leadership to delivery/project teams; ensuring solutions are realised in accordance with agreed upon architectures and adhere to design best practices.
• Identifying infrastructure requirements and providing technical leadership for the deployment and integration of solutions in customer environments.
• Cultivating strong relationships with customers and building their trust and confidence over the course of project engagements.
• Mentoring colleagues and developing technical knowledge and competence in the Ammeon organisation.
• Demonstrating a passion for working in DevOps and with new technologies.

Experience Required

• Have a strong DevOps background and knowledge of software development methodologies, processes and tools used in DevOps environments.
• Experience of all aspects of software project life cycles from requirements gathering, through design, development and implementation.
• Have background in application development and/or infrastructure deployment projects.
• Experience of working collaboratively with customers; having worked on customer projects and on customer sites.
• Have a track record of success working with customers, gathering customer requirements and creating innovative solutions.
• Have extensive experience creating and documenting solution architectures, e.g. using software architecture (4+1) views.
• Experience of building high-availability (HA) production-grade solutions in virtualised environments.
• Excellent knowledge of the cloud computing domain, including current market leaders and technologies.

Required Skills

• Working knowledge of cloud architectures, e.g. OpenStack, AWS, Azure, GCE, etc.
• Knowledge of Platform as a Service (PaaS) cloud technologies, e.g. OpenShift
• Previous experience deploying IaaS and/or PaaS cloud solutions (OpenStack, OpenShift, Google Cloud, CloudForms, or AWS)
• Solid grounding in virtualisation, e.g. VMware, KVM, oVirt, etc.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools, services, and modern configuration management solutions (Puppet, Ansible, Chef, CFEnginer) is a plus
• Practical experience in Linux/Unix system administration and troubleshooting.
• Container and container orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes, Docker, Rkt, Atomic, etc.
• Experience of working with agile tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence)
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills (in areas such as capacity planning).
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong technical leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven experience in design of scalable high throughput software solutions.

Desirable Skills

• Cloud networking (SDN) and storage (object and block) knowledge.
• Proven experience in design of large volume clustered data storage solutions, e.g. Hadoop, MapR
• Experience with migrating large scale relational databases such as MySQL/PostgreSQL to a Big-Data ecosystem
