The Role
The candidate will be an Infrastructure Consultant in an Infrastructure Consulting practice in the Irish marketplace, with one of the Tier 1 IBM Business Partners & NetApp Star Partner. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working at consultancy-level on the management and configuration of IBM AIX, Linux, but also ideally have had working knowledge of other Unix flavours.
They should also have experience of implementing backup and recovery solutions, particularly on IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) and/or Commvault would be of interest. A good knowledge and hands-on experience of enterprise class storage platforms is a requirement as well as a variety of other hardware platforms particularly blade systems.
The candidate will be required to work as part of a multi-skilled Infrastructure consulting team working on chargeable projects, so should be open to learning new technologies, and should be prepared to work for multiple clients on a variety of infrastructure projects. Also should have a chargeable, professional services / consulting, client-facing background.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Designs and deploys technically advanced solutions including cloud based services, storage, server consolidation, high availability, consolidated backup, and disaster recovery
• Architects, develops, and manages implementation of complex server & storage solutions for enterprise clients.
• Good knowledge and hands-on experience of enterprise class platforms is a requirement as well as a variety of other hardware platforms particularly converged systems.
• Works directly with client to gather requirements, design solutions, build proof of concepts and implement solutions.
• Assists in opportunity evaluation and leading or assisting on pursuits at new clients or within existing ones.
• Maintains a working knowledge of the organisation policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behaviors.
• Supports and conducts self in a manner consistent with customer service expectations.
Experience:
• The candidate should have strong knowledge and skills across the IBM and/or HP and/or NetApp product range.
• The candidate should have exposure to virtualisation technology that includes one or more of the following VMware, IBM PowerVM. Openstack would be a strong advantage.
• IBM PowerVM with VIO Servers, IBM PowerHA Clustering IBM HMC
• Knowledge of Cloud technologies/marketplace. Private Cloud & Hybrid Cloud
• Experience of large-scale enterprise support utilising industry best practices and mature processes
• Experience of latest generation compute technology
• SAN Implementation, Administration, Design & Optimization (storage pooling, fibre channels, etc.); virtualization experience preferred in large-scale environments. IBM/HP/NetApp experience is highly desirable.
• Server/storage virtualization analysis.
• General Server & Storage Migrations
• Implementing Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity solutions
• Data center operational knowledge
• Desireable would be to have experience of Windows/Linux systems administration (OS, network, storage, application support); Network and SAN connectivity including TCP/IP, FC, MPIO, etc.
• Ideally should have a chargeable professional services / consulting, client-facing background.
