The Linux Team Lead is a key member of the services organisation management team. He/she will be responsible for motivating a team of Linux Support Engineers and for facilitating resolution on escalated calls from our customer base.

 

Responsibilities

  • Motivate a team of Support Engineers through performance coaching, career planning and setting educational objectives
  • Participate in Quality calibration and validation sessions
  • Improve productivity by highlighting deficiencies and recommending change in tools, training, processes, reporting and employee engagement.
  • Facilitate customer resolution for escalated calls and engage the necessary technical support
  • Follow up with unsatisfied customers to ensure that issues are resolved and the customers are satisfied
  • Report operations achievements and progress to the operations manager on a regular basis including statistical analysis and improvement of action plans
  • Work with other managers to ensure operational consistency
  • Maintain a mind-set of continuous improvement in terms of efficiency of support processes, customer satisfaction and the application of tools for monitoring, management and optimisation.
  • Build relationships with the operational and technical departments of our key customers
  • Deliver and exceed on all team performance targets.
  • Providing technical support to the customer.
  • Assisting the customer with the installation and usage of each delivered build of the product.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving often complex issues the customer has with the product.

 

 Experience: 

  • Experience in a Team Lead or supervisory role (2+ Years)
  • Experience working in a Linux/UNIX system administration role.
  • Knowledge of Red Hat Linux including standard services, protocols, applications, software updates and data recovery.
  • Experience working with virtualized environments.
  • Proficient with at least one scripting language (ideally python or bash).


 Candidate should have some or all of the following: 

  • Familiar with different layers in the OSI model.
  • Experience working with various network protocols (NFS, SSH, DNS, NTP, DHCP etc).
  • Experience working with databases (e.g. Oracle, MySQL)
  • Networking and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with HP Blade and Rack Mount hardware.
  • Proficient with at least one scripting language (ideally python or bash).
  • Working with high-availability clusters.
  • Working with JBOSS applications.
  • Working in an agile software development environment.
  • Ability to clearly explain complicated concepts.
  • Ability to write clear and concise emails and documentation.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Experience in customer facing roles.
  • Provide customer demos and training.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel.
